Split bills with your partner, without a spreadsheet
Text HouseMouse what you paid, like “I paid $84 at Costco”. It logs the cost right away and splits it the way you agreed. You both see every cost and who owes whom. When you pay each other back, log that too, and the balance updates. HouseMouse never moves money.

- Pick how you split: 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, or any share you like. You can both change it, and the new split applies from then on.
- Any single cost can be split another way: evenly, all on one person, or by exact amounts.
- A bill paid from a joint account doesn’t change the balance. A bill paid by just one of you adds the other’s share to it.
No approving each other’s receipts
Anything you log, change or delete counts straight away, and the web page shows who did it. Nobody has to sign off on the other’s spending.
Before your partner joins
You can start on your own: log costs and see what you spend each month, by category. When your partner joins, you choose which of those earlier costs to split.
Where it stops
- It never moves money, pays bills or connects to a bank.
- It never asks for your bank logins.
- It’s for two people sharing a home, in Canadian or US dollars.
Questions
- How is this different from Splitwise?
- Splitwise is for splitting costs with anyone, from roommates to a group trip. HouseMouse is for one couple’s home. It keeps your costs next to dinner, groceries, upkeep and bills, and you do it all by text.
- Can we split 60/40?
- Yes. Set any whole-number percentage as your usual split, and change it whenever you like.
- Does it settle up for us?
- No. It shows who owes whom. Paid each other back? Log it, and the balance updates.
